Plumbing Dispatch Software

Dispatch software is the board a plumbing office runs the day from: who's closest when a burst pipe calls in at four, who gets moved when a drain job runs long, and when the customer hears the truck is on its way. Ten platforms compared on the dispatch features their own pages claimed on October 2, 2026.

Which plumbing dispatch software fits your shop

Emergency calls jump the queue every day

Our picks

FieldPulseOn request
Housecall Pro$59–329/mo

FieldPulse lets you "drag and drop emergency calls to the top of the schedule", and every dispatch carries site notes, access info and material lists. Housecall Pro routes the closest plumber to burst pipes and drain emergencies and sends on-my-way texts with an ETA.

A dispatcher running ten-plus plumbers

Our pick

ServiceTitanOn request

Skills rules mean only plumbers qualified for a job type can be picked, capacity rules stop the office booking the wrong jobs at the wrong times, and its Dispatch Pro product assigns the tech automatically. Pricing through a sales call.

The owner dispatches from the truck, prices printed

Our picks

Jobber$29–499/mo
Kickserv$48–199/mo

Jobber assigns new calls to the closest plumber by GPS and adds routing and tracking from its Connect plan. Kickserv puts its dispatch map and GPS check-ins on its Run plan.

Commercial plumbing, a person makes every call

Our pick

ServiceBox$75–330/mo

"An urgent leak becomes a complete, billable service record", with site contact, access notes and prior plumbing history sent to the tech. ServiceBox doesn't auto-route or assign the nearest plumber, by design.

Does your plumbing shop need dispatch software or scheduling software?

Most platforms sell both on one screen, but they solve different days. Dispatch is today: the live board, trucks on a map, and the reshuffle when an emergency lands in the middle of planned work. Scheduling is the weeks ahead: multi-day repipes, recurring maintenance visits, arrival windows and customers booking themselves online. A two-truck shop where the owner takes every call needs good scheduling long before it needs a dispatcher's board, and that side is in the plumbing scheduling software guide.

Emergency handling, GPS and arrival texts in plumbing dispatch software

What each platform's own pages claim for picking the plumber, handling the emergency call, the truck on the map, and the text the customer gets. "Not claimed" means the vendor's pages don't state it, and we won't guess.

How plumbing dispatch software handles the burst-pipe call

An emergency breaks a planned day in one of three places, and the platforms help at different ones.

  • Getting it to the front of the board. FieldPulse drags emergency calls to the top of the schedule and sorts urgent requests with tags. Service Fusion files a job under an Emergency category and filters the dispatch grid by Low, Normal or High priority.
  • Finding the nearest plumber. Workiz on every plan, Housecall Pro from Essentials and Jobber from Connect all show who's closest on a live map. ServiceTitan goes a step further and shows where each tech is in their current job, so the office can queue the emergency for whoever is finishing up. QuoteIQ's live map is on Elite and Max, according to most of its pages.
  • Answering the call at nine at night. Five platforms sell an AI that answers the phone and books the job: FieldPulse's Operator AI, Workiz's Genius Answering, Housecall Pro's CSR AI, Jobber's Receptionist, and ServiceTitan's AI Virtual Agent, which books straight to the dispatch board. Jobber includes its Receptionist on the Plus plan, FieldPulse and Workiz sell theirs as add-ons, Housecall Pro lists CSR AI outside its plan columns, and ServiceTitan sells its agent as a separate product.

One gap: none of the ten shows how to schedule an on-call rotation for after-hours plumbers on the pages we checked. If you run one, it lives in your own calendar for now.

Who picks the plumber: automated assignment in plumbing dispatch software

ServiceTitan and Workiz make the clearest claim that the software itself chooses the tech. ServiceTitan's Dispatch Pro assigns "the best tech to each job" on skill, location and performance, and Workiz's Genius Scheduling picks "the perfect time and tech for every job" on its Pro and Ultimate plans. Jobber assigns online bookings to whoever is available and points new work to the closest team member, FieldPulse shows each plumber's location and skillset, and FieldEdge matches on skills, location and workload. QuoteIQ's pages disagree on whether it assigns automatically. ServiceBox goes the other way on purpose: "The dispatcher remains in control of technician selection and scheduling."

For most plumbing shops under ten trucks, a map that shows who's nearest is the useful part. Automated assignment starts paying when one dispatcher is juggling more calls than they can reason about by eye.

Plumbing dispatch software questions

What is the best dispatch software for plumbing companies?
For shops where emergency calls reshuffle the day, FieldPulse and Housecall Pro: FieldPulse moves emergencies to the top of the schedule with site notes and material lists attached, and Housecall Pro routes the nearest plumber and texts the customer an ETA. For a dispatch office past ten plumbers, ServiceTitan, with skills rules, capacity rules and automatic assignment through Dispatch Pro. For commercial work where a person makes every dispatch decision, ServiceBox.

Which plumbing dispatch software has live GPS tracking?
ServiceTitan, FieldPulse, Workiz and FieldEdge claim live GPS on their own pages, and Workiz includes it on every plan. Housecall Pro tracks phones from its Essentials plan, Jobber includes GPS from its Connect plan, and QuoteIQ on Elite and Max, according to most of its pages. Service Fusion sells GPS fleet tracking as an add-on, Kickserv lists GPS check-ins from its Run plan, and ServiceBox uses location from technician check-ins only.

How does plumbing dispatch software handle emergency calls?
Three ways. FieldPulse and Service Fusion move the emergency up the board, by drag and drop or by an Emergency category and priority level. Workiz, ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro from Essentials and Jobber from Connect show which plumber is nearest on a live map. And FieldPulse, Workiz, Housecall Pro, Jobber and ServiceTitan sell AI phone answering that books the job, including after hours.

Can plumbing dispatch software assign plumbers automatically?
ServiceTitan and Workiz claim it most clearly: ServiceTitan through its Dispatch Pro product, and Workiz through Genius Scheduling on its Pro and Ultimate plans. Jobber assigns online bookings to whoever is available. FieldPulse and FieldEdge recommend the nearest or best-matched plumber and leave the choice to the office, and QuoteIQ’s pages disagree. ServiceBox states it does not assign the nearest technician automatically.

The verdict on plumbing dispatch software

Buy for the call that breaks your day. If it's the burst pipe in the middle of planned work, FieldPulse and Housecall Pro say the most about slotting the emergency in and telling the customer when you're coming. If it's volume, ServiceTitan's rules and assignment engine are built for a dispatcher with a full board. If the owner dispatches between jobs, Jobber and Kickserv print their prices and cover the map and the on-my-way text. Commercial shops that want a person deciding every dispatch have ServiceBox, built that way on purpose.
