About Tools for Trades

I'm Markus. I build small software tools and data sites, and this one exists because HVAC software pricing is a mess of demo walls, stale directory numbers and commission-ranked listicles. I am not an HVAC technician and I won't pretend to be one. What I can do is read every vendor's pricing page, record what it actually says, link the source, date the check, and keep doing that when the numbers change.

So that's the site: a Stack Builder that scores vendors on published data without seeing who pays referral fees, a pricing databasewhere every figure links its source, and a changelogthat records changes the day I catch them. All facts current as of 2026-09-05.

Three commitments

• No invented expertise. No fake review board, no stock-photo team page, no "our HVAC experts". The claims here are checkable claims about vendor pages, and each one links its source.
• Recommendations don't follow the money. Some vendors pay referral fees, three pay nothing, and the scoring can't tell the difference. The methodology is published so you can verify that instead of trusting it.
• Your info isn't the product. This site sells no leads, sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no forms. If you book a demo, you do it on the vendor's site, not through me.

When something on this site is wrong

A price will eventually be out of date; vendors change them quietly. When a figure here disagrees with the vendor's live page, the vendor's page wins, and I want to know: the fix lands on the changelog with a date. The machine-readable dataset at /data/vendors.json carries the verification date on every fact, so you never have to guess how fresh a number is.
