A dispatch office running ten-plus techs
Our pick
Skills rules limit each job type to qualified techs, capacity shifts by season, and its Dispatch Pro product runs an algorithm to pick the tech. Pricing through a sales call.
Dispatch software is the board an HVAC office runs the day from: which tech is closest when the no-cool call comes in at two, who gets moved when an install runs long, and when the customer hears the truck is on its way. Ten platforms compared on the dispatch features their own pages claimed, last checked October 2, 2026.

Both claim a drag-and-drop board, live GPS, route optimization and on-my-way texts, with tracking and routing above their entry plans, and both print their prices. Housecall Pro shows estimated drive times between jobs.
FieldEdge reassigns jobs "when schedules shift or emergencies come up" across trucks and business units. Workiz shows the dispatcher which tech is nearby and can assign by AI.
Our pick
Deliberately manual: ServiceBox says it doesn't auto-route or assign the nearest tech. You get crews, capacity and workload in view before you commit a window.
Most platforms sell both on one screen, but they solve different days. Dispatch is today: the live board, trucks on a map, reassigning when a call runs over. Scheduling is the weeks ahead: maintenance visits, arrival windows, reminder texts, and customers booking themselves online. A two-truck shop where the owner books every job needs good scheduling long before it needs a dispatcher's board. That side of the decision is in the HVAC scheduling software guide.
What each platform's own pages claim for the dispatcher's screen, the truck on the map, and the text the customer gets. "Not claimed" means the vendor's pages don't state it, and we won't guess.
| Platform | Dispatch board | Help picking the tech | Live GPS | Customer arrival alerts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitan | Drag-and-drop board, map | Skills rules; Dispatch Pro algorithm | Yes | SMS with technician bios |
| Housecall Pro | Drag-and-drop, map view | Drive times, route optimization | Yes | On-my-way with GPS ETA |
| FieldEdge | Central board across business units | Skills, location, workload | Yes | ETA by text, call or email |
| Jobber | Drag-and-drop calendar | Roles, availability, skill; routing | Yes | On-my-way texts |
| Workiz | Drag-and-drop calendar | AI assignment by skill and location | Yes | On-my-way texts |
| FieldPulse | Visual calendar, team views | Closest available tech | Yes | Arrival texts, tracking links |
| Service Fusion | Drag-and-drop grid, map | Dispatch zones, job pool | Yes | Track their Tech with ETA |
| QuoteIQ | Assign from the calendar, crews | Pages disagree on auto-assignment | Elite and Max, on most pages | On-the-way texts; plan pages disagree |
| Kickserv | Drag-and-drop planner, map | By route or experience | GPS check-ins, from Run | On-my-way notices |
| ServiceBox | Drag-and-drop schedule, crews | Manual by design | Check-in location only | Not claimed |
ServiceTitan and Workiz make the clearest claim that the software itself chooses the tech. ServiceTitan's Dispatch Pro "runs thousands of scenarios to find the best technician for every job", and Workiz says its AI "automates job assignments based on technician availability, location, and skill set". Jobber assigns online bookings to whoever is available. Otherwise the platforms recommend and let a person decide: ServiceTitan's standard scheduling suggests techs by skills, shifts and zones, Jobber and Housecall Pro show availability and drive times, FieldPulse points to the closest available tech, and FieldEdge matches on skill set, location and workload. ServiceBox goes the other way on purpose: "The dispatcher remains in control."
For most HVAC shops under ten techs, a board that shows drive times is the useful part. Automated assignment starts paying when a dispatcher is juggling more calls than they can reason about by eye.
What is the best dispatch software for HVAC companies?
For a dispatch office past ten techs, ServiceTitan, with skills rules, seasonal capacity and its Dispatch Pro assignment product. For owner-dispatched shops that want published prices, Housecall Pro and Jobber both offer a drag-and-drop board, live GPS, route optimization and on-my-way texts, with tracking and routing above their entry plans. FieldEdge fits multi-truck shops that reshuffle around emergency calls.
Which HVAC dispatch software has live GPS tracking?
ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, FieldEdge, Jobber, FieldPulse, Service Fusion and Workiz all claim live GPS on their own pages. QuoteIQ includes it on Elite and Max, according to most of its pages. Kickserv says it tracks technicians by GPS and lists GPS check-ins from its Run plan, and ServiceBox uses location from technician check-ins only.
Which HVAC dispatch software works with QuickBooks?
All ten platforms we track sync with QuickBooks Online. For QuickBooks Desktop, Housecall Pro, FieldEdge, Service Fusion, FieldPulse and ServiceBox sync natively and Kickserv sells it as a $50 a month add-on; ServiceTitan and QuoteIQ leave Desktop unconfirmed on their own pages, and Jobber and Workiz do not sync with Desktop.
Can HVAC dispatch software assign technicians automatically?
ServiceTitan and Workiz claim it most clearly: ServiceTitan through its Dispatch Pro product, and Workiz through AI assignment by availability, location and skill. Jobber assigns online bookings to whoever is available. Housecall Pro, FieldPulse and FieldEdge recommend a tech or show drive times and leave the choice to the dispatcher. ServiceBox states it does not assign the nearest technician automatically.
Buy for the size of the problem. A dispatcher managing a full board all day gets the most from ServiceTitan's rules and assignment engine, or FieldEdge's multi-unit board. An owner who dispatches between calls needs a clear board, GPS and automatic on-my-way texts, and Housecall Pro and Jobber print their prices for exactly that. Commercial shops that want a human making every call have ServiceBox, built that way on purpose.
