Jobber vs Housecall Pro
Disclosure: Housecall Pro runs an affiliate program with published terms this site can use; Jobber's program is application-gated and currently earns this site nothing. The scoring can't see either fact: methodology. Every number below links a vendor page, checked 2026-09-05.
These two fight over the same residential service shop, and the honest comparison isn't "which is better", it's which one gates the feature you need at a tier you can afford. Housecall Pro publishes the clearest feature-to-tier mapping of the ten vendors we track. Jobber counters with a real one-person plan at $29/mo and a flat $29 per extra seat at every tier.
The three gates that decide most shops
- QuickBooks Desktop: Housecall Pro syncs with it, alongside Online. Jobber doesn't, full stop. If your books live in Desktop, this comparison is over.
- Maintenance agreements: Housecall Pro's Recurring Service Plans are MAX-tier only, $299/mo and up. Jobber does maintenance plans with automatic recurring scheduling on its regular plans. If service agreements are your revenue base, price Housecall Pro at MAX, not at the $59 the ads mention.
- Flat-rate pricing: Housecall Pro has it from Essentials, plus HVAC pricebook partners (Profit Rhino, The New Flat Rate, On Call Air). Jobber doesn't claim a flat-rate pricebook at all.
What each costs as your crew grows
| Team size | Jobber | Housecall Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Just you | $29–49/mo (Core) | $59–79/mo (Basic) |
| 4 users | $116–136/mo (Core) | $149–189/mo (Essentials) |
| 8 users | $232–252/mo (Core) | $299–329/mo (MAX) |
| 15 users | $435–455/mo (Core) | $824–854/mo (MAX) |
Computed from each vendor's published tier prices and per-seat rates; where a seat overage rate isn't published, we say so instead of estimating. Before add-ons.
Two quirks the table surfaces. Jobber's seat price never changes: $29 per user on any plan. Housecall Pro's extra-seat price falls as tiers rise, $100 on Essentials but $75 on MAX, so a nine-tech shop can genuinely be cheaper on the "bigger" plan. Housecall Pro doesn't publish an extra-seat rate for Basic at all, which is why the Basic tier vanishes from the multi-user rows.

MAX tier CTA is 'Book Demo' though price is published. Basic extra-user rate not published. Extra-seat rate FALLS as tiers rise ($100 Essentials -> $75 MAX): a 9-tech shop is cheaper on MAX.

Which one the Stack Builder would hand you
Run the Stack Builder with your real numbers. The short version: QuickBooks Desktop or flat-rate pricing needs point to Housecall Pro (priced at the tier that has your feature). A solo operator, a Xero shop, or a team that wants route optimization and a customer portal without tier games points to Jobber. Both get expensive with add-ons; the real bills above are the budget to plan against.
